The village of Tramin was first mentioned in 1145
The wine from the white grape varieties grown there was called “Traminer”. Its good taste was highly praised in the late Middle Ages, for example by the widely travelled knight and well-known minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein. Traminer soon became famed outside the region and was in such great demand that the municipality of Tramin was obliged to appoint two officials to supervise the proper handling of the precious wine in 1535. To prevent manipulation, each barrel was sealed and had accompanying documents.
Weinhof Konrad Oberhofer is famed for its single-variety wines. They offer fresh, crystal clear varietal character.
Lagrein has always been grown in South Tyrol, while the varieties Gewürztraminer, Blauburgunder (Pinot Noir), Sauvignon, Müller Thurgau and Kerner immigrated to the wine region long ago. These grapes found ideal growing conditions in the diverse sites in the southern Alps and remained.
